Juliette Murphy - Trumpet
Juliette Murphy is a versatile and ambitious young Scottish trumpet player from Glasgow. She began playing the trumpet at the age of 11 and started lessons with Michael Bennett through her local council instrumental music service. Juliette’s love for trumpet playing and passion for ensemble performance grew through her years at high school and the many ensembles she enjoyed within her local council. She went on to gain a place as principal trumpet in the West of Scotland Schools Wind Orchestra and in her final year of school was also accepted into the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland (NYOS) Senior Orchestra as principal trumpet. Additionally, she was invited to partake in the NYOS Flagship Orchestra UK tour in 2016, which allowed her the opportunity to play in the Royal Albert Hall in London. This year, Juliette has also accepted the position of NYOS ambassador and instrumental tutor for the NYOS training ensembles.
During her undergraduate studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Juliette has benefited from the expert tutelage of Nigel Boddice MBE, Mark O’Keeffe, Peter Franks, John Gracie and Sandy McGrattan. She has also been lucky enough to partake in solo master classes with esteemed trumpet players such as Mike Lovatt, Otto Sauter and Tom Poulson and Urban Agnes of Stockholm Chamber Brass. Juliette also won places on both the BBCSSO and RSNO apprenticeship schemes which has given her invaluable experience of playing in a professional orchestra.
In the future, Juliette hopes to continue to strive for a successful career as a trumpet player and to continually expand her knowledge and experience as a musician.
