Peter McNeill - French Horn
Originally from Musselburgh, East Lothian, Peter attended The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Junior Department from 2014 to 2016 before progressing to full-time study at the Conservatoire from 2016 with David Flack, Stephanie Jones, and Beccy Goldberg. He has been a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland and the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra.
In 2018, Peter furthered his studies on ERASMUS Exchange in Weimar, Germany, with Prof. Jörg Brückner, and after returning to Scotland, he won the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland’s Governors Recital Prize for Brass. Subsequently, this resulted in invitations to perform solo recitals at the University of Aberdeen 19/20 concert series, and at St Mary’s Cathedral in Edinburgh for the International Festival 2019. Peter was awarded student apprenticeship schemes through the RCS with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and the Scottish Chamber Orchestra – the latter culminating in a BBC Radio 3 recording as part of SCO Winds – and has now freelanced with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, and the Royal Scottish National Orchestra.
A keen chamber music player, alongside Solstice Brass, Peter enjoys playing with the established wind quintet, Sirocco Winds, as well as promoting the repertoire for Horn and Voice with his sister and mezzo-soprano, Ellen McNeill.
